Kenya

Season Guide

Spring (March to May): The long rains begin in April, bringing lush green landscapes and fewer tourists. While some safari areas can be harder to access, it’s a peaceful time to visit and great for birdwatching.

Summer (June to August): Dry and pleasant, with excellent wildlife viewing and the start of the Great Migration in the Maasai Mara. Cooler mornings make for ideal game drives and the coast stays warm and inviting.

Autumn (September to November): September and October are prime safari months, with the Great Migration in full swing. Short rains may arrive in November, but travel remains very doable and crowds thin out.

Winter (December to February): Hot, dry and sunny, this is a fantastic time for both safaris and beach escapes. Expect clear skies, great wildlife sightings and warm coastal waters along the Indian Ocean.

Top Regions To Visit

The Maasai Mara

Famous for the Great Migration and Big Five safaris, this iconic reserve is Kenya’s premier wildlife destination. Rolling savannahs, expert-guided game drives and luxurious tented camps make for unforgettable safari experiences.

A conservation-focused region with stunning landscapes, private reserves and fewer crowds. Home to unique wildlife like black rhinos and Grevy’s zebras, plus excellent walking safaris and fantastic lodges.

Amboseli

Set against the backdrop of Mount Kilimanjaro, Amboseli offers dramatic views and large elephant herds. It’s compact and easy to explore, making it ideal for shorter trips or pairing with the coast.

The Kenyan Coast

Stretching from Lamu in the north to Diani and beyond in the south, Kenya’s coast offers white-sand beaches, warm Indian Ocean waters, and a rich Swahili heritage. Perfect for post-safari relaxation, diving, and dhow sailing.

The Rift Valley & Lakes

Lush landscapes, geothermal wonders, and vibrant birdlife—especially flamingos. These freshwater lakes are a great stop between Nairobi and safari regions, with chances to hike, bike, or boat.

Unforgettable Experiences

Take a private hot-air balloon safari over the Maasai Mara at dawn. From above, witness herds of wildebeest and zebra crossing the plains, then land for a champagne breakfast in the heart of the wilderness.

Enjoy a guided walking safari with a local Maasai warrior who shares insights on tracking wildlife and traditional bush skills. Experience the raw connection with nature and culture.

Watch majestic elephants roam with Mount Kilimanjaro as their backdrop during a private game drive. Later, retreat to a secluded lodge with an infinity pool overlooking the plains, perfect for unwinding as the sun sets behind Africa’s highest peak.

Charter a private dhow cruise at sunset, sailing through calm turquoise waters. Sip cocktails on deck while passing pristine beaches and coral reefs, then anchor near a deserted island for a gourmet seafood dinner under the stars.

Embark on a serene boat safari on Lake Naivasha at dawn. Glide quietly past hippos and water birds, then hike into nearby flower-filled hills or visit a Maasai village to experience authentic local life before returning to a magnificent lakeside lodge.
